In 1968 the Lancastrian Theatre Organ Trust was formed to save the 4/20 Wurlitzer organ in the Odeon, Manchester. Thanks to the co-operation of Rank Leisure Services, the LTOT were able to acquire this instrument when the cinema closed for conversion into a multi-screen cinema.
On the 8th July 1973, the final organ concert was held in the Odeon and for the next four years, the organ underwent removal, restoration and transplantation into the Free Trade Hall, Manchester, where it was opened on the 11th September 1977. The Wurlitzer was removed from the Free Trade Hall in the late 1990's and was installed in the Ballroom of Stockport Town Hall, where it was opened in November 1999.
Trust President (at the time) William Davies and Vice Presidents Joyce Alldred, Doreen Chadwick, Len Rawle, Robin Richmond and Nigel Ogden present a programme of music to celebrate the many successful years of the Wurlitzer Organ in the Free Trade Hall Manchester. This superb recording includes all your favourite melodies.
Tracks include: Bye Bye Blues, Let Me Try Again, Can I Forget You, I Won't Send Roses, Toytown Trumpeters, Selection From 'Showboat' and Love is My Reason for Living.
