This HERITAGE SERIES recording features the Wurlitzer Organs once installed in the Gaumont and Odeon Theatres, Manchester. These 'mighty' instruments were originally located only a few hundred yards from each other on Oxford Road and were once a daily feature of a visit to the cinema. Alas, both these theatres are now but a distant memory, although thanks to the forward thinking of a group of enthusiasts known as the Lancastrian Theatre Organ Trust, both of these fine instruments were preserved for future generations to enjoy.
Taken from the original LP recordings issued in 1974, this compilation features the fine keyboard talents of Len Rawle. Len developed a distinctive style of playing, which is very much 'at home' on both 4 manual Wurlitzer organs featured on this recording and so it should be, for he has a large 4 manual Wurlitzer organ installed in his own home in Chorleywood.
